ShatianTown is located in the southwest of Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, covering 107 square kilometer with population of over 200,000. Shatian Town, the historical a land flowing with milk and honey, became one of one thousand strong towns of China in 2005, appraised strong education-developing town in 2006 and in 2007 awarded Sea Town of Logistic Importance in China. There are 3000 business enterprises, of which 200 foreign-funded enterprises.

In 2006, the town GDP reached RMB4.52 billion, increasing by 22.05% upon that of last year; disposable income is RMB330 million, increasing by 35.77%; tax revenue RMB490 million increased by 45.09%; bank deposit RMB3.98 billion increased by 20.9%; total volume of trade RMB460 million increased by 21.3%.

In 1997, State Department officially approved to upgrade Humen port to Category I. Shatian port is main part, area for petrochemicals and logistic services of Humen port. Accordingly Shatian Town has become the key to the strategy of port economy development in Dongguan City.
